DU3210 Mount Swap

Watch the mount-swap walkthrough

Step-by-step video for swapping the dashboard mount on your DU3210.

  1. Unscrew the screw of the old base. Detach the pre-installed non-slip dashboard base from the back of the DU3210.
  2. Unscrew the two screws holding the flat bracket on the back of the unit and lift the bracket off.
  3. Place the new flat bracket (from the suction-mount kit — the one with the round socket) onto the back of the DU3210 and tighten the screws.
  4. Insert the suction mount's ball-and-arm assembly into the socket on the new bracket. Screw the collar down until snug so the arm can't wobble.
Now choose where it goes

Two ways to mount it

The suction cup can grip glass directly, or grip a 3M disc you stick to the dashboard. Pick the one that suits your car — the rest of the kit is identical.

Option A

Onto the windshield

This is how it ends up — suction cup on the glass, screen hanging just below.

Best if your dashboard is curved, textured or heavily vented — the cup needs glass.

  1. Clean the glass. Wipe the spot with glass cleaner or an alcohol wipe and let it dry fully. Any film or dust will cost you suction.
  2. Press the suction cup flat against the windshield, hold for a few seconds, then flip the locking lever down to draw the vacuum. Tug gently to confirm it's locked before letting go.

Keep it legal. Windshield mounting is restricted in some states — mount it low in the corner, out of your line of sight. See Dash Cam Laws by State.

Option B

Onto the dashboard, using the 3M disc

This is how it ends up — disc on the dash, unit standing on top of it.

Best if you'd rather keep the windshield clear, or your state restricts windshield mounts.

  1. Peel the film off the 3M glass disc and press it firmly onto a flat, clean, dry spot on the dashboard or centre console. Hold for 30 seconds and leave it an hour before loading it — the adhesive needs time to grab.
  2. Remove the film on the suction-cup base, press it onto the disc, and flip the locking lever to secure. The DU3210 is mounted and ready.

The disc is one-use. Choose the spot before you peel — lifting it off usually destroys the adhesive.

Either way: mount in temperatures above 50 °F / 10 °C. Adhesive and suction both go weak in the cold, which is the usual reason a mount lets go on the first freezing morning.
